Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker Betting Odds, Tips & Offers
Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker
Anthony Joshua returns to the ring for the first time in 2018, in what looks like being another huge year for him. His first match puts him up against the potentially dangerous New Zealander Joseph Parker in what should be a brutal contest. Both of these fighters like to throw big punches, so expect to see plenty of action in the fight, and the chances are that this won’t go the distance.
Joshua goes into the fight as the favourite, and he knows that a win here would ensure he has a very big payday coming up in the summer. His opponent is yet to be confirmed, but there have been a whole host of huge fights floating around, including bouts with Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. Whatever Joshua decides to do in the future, he needs to get past Parker first, a fighter who has proven his worth and is someone that deserves the chance to share the ring with Joshua.
Joshua has won all of his fights so far, with a perfect record of KO’s as well, 20 fights, 20 wins and 20 knockouts. With a record as impressive as that, it is little wonder that some people are not really giving Parker a chance against him. However, the New Zealander is someone who needs to be respected. He won the vacant WBO title in 2016, and although he has disappointed a little in recent fights he has had an excuse. He has been plagued by elbow injuries and has recently had surgery to overcome those, something he is hoping makes him tougher and stronger than ever before.
Should that surgery give Parker the confidence that he can once again box to the best of his ability, then he would have a chance of standing up to Joshua in the fight. However, when you look at his last two fights, particularly the one he controversially won against Hughie Fury, there is no reason to think he is capable of staying in the ring with someone at the top level like Joshua. This is an intriguing fight for fans to work out, on glimpses of Parker this could be a great, gruelling test for Joshua against a heavy-hitting opponent, while other showings have seen Parker fall well short of what is required.
Where Can I Watch the Fight?
The fight is live on Sky Sports Box Office and takes place on Saturday 31st March. You will need to order the fight if you want to tune in and watch, and it is priced at £19.95. The event begins at 6 pm on Saturday, with the main event expected to begin at around 10:30-11pm.
Who is on the Undercard?
There are some recognisable names on the undercard this weekend, and top of that is another heavyweight clash between Alexander Povetkin and David Price. These two are not in the same league as those topping the bill, but it should still be exciting to see two heavyweights going at it before the main event.
Elsewhere, fans will get to see Ryan Burnett, Anthony Crolla, Joe Cordina and Josh Kelly throughout the evening, with all of them expected to win their bouts with the minimum fuss.
It is no surprise to see Anthony Joshua as a warm favourite to win this fight with the bookmakers. He is generally priced up between 1/6 and 1/8 to win the fight, which may tempt some big gamblers, but other punters are likely to look elsewhere for value. If you think Joseph Parker can cause a big shock on Saturday night, he can be backed at 11/2 to do so. Joshua to win by a KO, TKO or disqualification is priced up at a best price of 2/5, while the same for Parker can be backed at 8/1. It would be a surprise to see these two heavy hitters lasting the distance, so many may be looking to back a knockout win rather than an outright win.
The most popular way to bet on the fight is going to be betting on which round the fight will end. Those who fancy Joshua to get control of the fight and finish it early can back him at 17/10 to win in rounds 1-6. If you want a bigger price to make your round spread smaller, then you can back rounds 4-6 at 100/30, or rounds 1-3 at 11/2 if you believe the fight will end quickly.
Those expecting this fight to go a long way can back Joshua to win in rounds 7-12 at a price of 7/4, or if you think it will go down to the wire, he can be backed to win in rounds 11-12 at 11/1. If you are looking at backing Joseph Parker to cause an upset, you can get 16/1 on him winning in rounds 1-6. For Parker to win in rounds 7-12 you can get exactly the same price if you think this is going to go further.
Those looking to place a special fun bet may be interested in the betting for both fighters to be knocked down during the fight. We saw that happen when Anthony Joshua faced Wladimir Klitschko, and it is priced up at 9/1 to happen again.

Ladbrokes have a similar offer running to Coral, but their offer is based on Joshua winning the fight by a knockout. While it looks likely he will, this isn’t the same as just winning.
